The user imports their .obj file, takes measurements using points they grab and move with their controllers, and export their measurements to .txt file.
Rather than traditional measuring programs where the user is limited by the keyboard, mouse, and monitor, VR allows the user to have not only the model infront of them as if it were really there, but also allows the user to use their hands to intuitively set points rather than eyeballing and dragging it on a 2D screen.

The program supports:
- One-Dist: create two points and return the distance.
- Mutli-Dist: create multiple points and returns the length. If the line is closed, thereby creating a polygon, it also returns the area.
- TriAngle: create a triangle and obtain its three angles.
- Snap: grab a point and snap it unto the model's surface by pointing at the model.
- Model transformations: scale the model or translate it upwards/downwards.
- Log and Export: save the measurements using log, and export to a .txt with export.

The log shows the  derived values to the user (distance, area, angle) and the export files return the location of the points set by the user. This is done so as to not overwhelm the user with information while taking measurements, and to allow the user to use the points they moved to calculate values that they care about but the program does not calculate for them such as volume or curvature.

This project is a first for the two non-programmers: Saad el Morabit and Ruben van Erp. The project is open source (MIT license): https://github.com/SaelMo/MeasureVR.git . Although the project is over we are open to feedback and suggestion for future updates. The primary purpose of this project is to give researchers, engineers, and others a useful tool for analyzing 3D data.
